This rustic-style Box wood bottle stopper is a rare and exquisite piece. Box is an exceptionally dense and sought-after timber, no longer commercially harvested, making it a true treasure for woodturning and carving. Its scarcity is due to the high losses during the seasoning process, with up to 80% of the wood being lost. Traditionally, Box was seasoned in sealed pits underground, preserving its strength and durability.

I was fortunate to be gifted this small yet valuable piece and took great care in refining its natural beauty. Polished to perfection, it has been treated with three coats of hard-wearing Finishing Oil, ensuring both durability and a smooth, elegant finish.
